Ten Years Old

from For What They're Worth by Trevor L

lyrics

When I was ten years old
My future seemed so clear
Grow up and go to college
Get a degree and a career

But my hearts not in it
And I can’t be confined
To the bandwagon of social norms
Dictating our lives

I’m mess, I’m a joke
My life’s gone up in smoke
But as long as I keep saying that
I’ll always feel alone

I’m so gone I wish I could feel ten years old

There’s this girl
And you wouldn’t believe
She’s a constant in my life
And she keeps me on my feet

Someday I wont be as
Distant as I seem
But at least I have her
And I hope that she has me

I’m quiet and I’m nervous
I don’t mean to let you down
But as long as I keep breathing
I’ll keep figuring myself out

I wish life could be as simple as when I was ten years old

Like before I got weighed down
By the truth of growing up
When I could talk to anyone
Before I lost my trust

Nothing is easy and I’m not ten years old
